Local MP and Merton Councillors among the first to walk The Wimbledon Way.
The Wimbledon Way got off to a flying start on Saturday 26th May with the help of local MP, Stephen Hammond and local Councillors. The heritage walk and visitor attraction, initiated by Merton Chamber of Commerce, links the town centre to the village and the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The 2.012km walk takes people through some of Wimbledon’s fascinating heritage and culture.
The Wimbledon Way has been kick started with Heritage Lottery Funding. Leaflets about the walk are available from Merton’s libraries and the Love Wimbledon Town Centre Information point – just inside centre court shopping centre. Love Wimbledon – as the new Business Improvement District – supported the walk with balloons and badges for both young and older walkers alike.
