Merton Garden Streets is a volunteer-led initiative from the Merton Climate Action Group to get everyone out planting up their streets. The aim is to create a greener borough that’s wildlife-friendly, cooler, has better drainage, protection from pollution, and aids well-being. All Merton residents are invited to take part.
The first planting day is happening on Saturday 15th May and members of the community have volunteered as Street Coordinators to spread the word and encourage neighbours to get involved with front garden planting, window boxes, hanging baskets, ‘greening-up’ bin/bike sheds and street planting (e.g., tree pits).
The second and third community planting days are happening on the 19th June and 17th July. For more information, go to www.frontgardenfriendly.uk/
